Willis Substation

BACKGROUND

Willis substation played an important role in the Smart Path Connect project, upgrading the transmission infrastructure throughout New York State. The transmission enhancements aimed to align with and bolster New York State's ambitious clean energy objectives. Collectively, these substations were designed to facilitate the seamless transmission of an extra 1,000 megawatts (MW) of clean and renewable energy across the state.

Aproach

The Willis substation project, commissioned by the New York Power Authority, enlisted the services of J.H. Hassinger for its construction. Various construction techniques were employed, with a notable emphasis on the pre-construction phase. A substantial portion of the project was carefully planned and executed in the office before on-site mobilization. Ultimately, the Willis substation was completed on time and without any safety incidents.
