Building A Brighter Future

Darien Substation

BACKGROUND

The Darien Substation played a pivotal role in the Darien Solar Energy Center, a substantial 250-megawatt solar generation facility sprawling across 4,200 acres. Functioning as a crucial 138-kilovolt collection substation for the solar facility, it served as a linchpin for a project with the ambitious aim of providing power to 75,000 homes.

Aproach

The project involved the implementation of numerous drilled foundations, a task made challenging by the less-than-ideal soil conditions. To overcome this obstacle, various installation methods were employed. Notably, the transformer foundations were crafted with concrete containments, showcasing the specialized expertise of J.H. Hassinger.
