Built for Power
Lone Tree Windfarm Substation & Transmission Line
BACKGROUND
Located in Tiskilwa, Illinois, the Lone Tree Wind project successfully began operation in November 2020. Boasting a nameplate capacity of 80 megawatts, the initiative is composed of 32 GE wind turbine generators. The comprehensive project implementation involved the establishment of a connection to ComEd's transmission system through a 2.5-mile generation tie line, facilitating seamless integration, and a 138-kilovolt substation.
Aproach
During the Lone Tree Wind project, J.H. Hassinger played a crucial role in various aspects of the construction. Our responsibilities included site grading for the substation, ensuring a stable foundation for the substation itself, and overseeing the intricate installation of the 2.5-mile transmission line that linked the wind farm to ComEd's transmission system. This work not only involved technical expertise but also strategic planning to seamlessly integrate the wind farm into the larger power distribution network.
