Pumping Things Up

South 60th Pump Station

BACKGROUND

The City of Franklin Waste Water Utilities needed to upgrade an outdated lift station situated on 60th Street, prompting the decision to replace it with a new and improved facility at the exact same location. The replacement involved careful planning and execution to seamlessly transition from the old infrastructure to the new lift station, contributing to the overall improvement of the city's waste management capabilities.

Aproach

J.H. Hassinger collaborated closely with Graef Engineering and the city of Franklin Waste Water Utilities in an extensive project aimed at removing and replacing the existing lift station. The project included the construction of a new 30-foot deep wet well, the addition of a bypass chamber, and the erection of a new building to accommodate valves, electrical equipment, and a backup generator. Notably, the project also featured the installation of three new pumps, strategically designed to enhance pumping capacity and facilitate future development in the bustling business district. Remarkably, all these improvements were in the same location as the original system, which required exceptional planning and execution at every phase. The transition from the old to the new infrastructure occurred without any disruption to customers, marking the successful completion of this vital infrastructure upgrade.
